Do not keep files open when adding them to the compilation to reduce resource usage
As it stands right now, creating a compilation (naturally) opens every single file in the compilation, but also seems to keep them all open. This is a problem when the files live on a network share, because Windows-compatible network file systems like Samba have limits to the number of files that can be open at one time. When you hit this limit, the drive goes offline and has to be remounted.
I suppose this is probably a performance optimization, but it is also a bug; it should at least be possible to disable it.
This is an issue known for quite a while and doesn’t really belong here. However, StarBurn informed me that they are currently working on this, so I marked this as “started” now. ETA: A few weeks according to them. (Based on past experiences, rather expect a couple of months.)
